5 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised - An Affordable Watch with Accurate Compass   September 4, 2008

I thought I was going to have to shell our $150+ or settle for a fugly Timex in order to get a watch with a compass built-in. I looked a Suunto and Casio and I almost ordered one, but it just seemed like too much. Then I searched again and found this little gem. Now, I am not going to say that this can go one on one with Suunto various compass watches and Casio's Pathfinders. It has an acrylic watch face crystal and some of the others have a mineral crystal. Also this one does not have an altimeter or thermometer and the others mostly do.

The watch face seems a bit more raised than necessary. It is sitting about 5/8ths of an inch off of my wrist (the face that is). The watch has a countdown time (CDT on the modes) and this was a pleasant surprise. Also the CW1 got my attention first and I thought this only differed in color, but the other is rated to 30 feet of water resistance. Setting the watch was easy and the alarm seems loud enough. The light also seems strong enough. Also I like the little extra strap locking feature. I wonder why this isn't more popular. Oh, if you have small wrists then this watch might not fit you. I through my wrists were average in size and yet I'm using the third notch on the strap and I could use the 2nd.

5 out of 5 stars excellent watch   August 30, 2008

I am very pleased with this watch. The compass feature works well and it is very easy to set up. I do recommend looking up the magnetic declination of your home area online as the chart that comes with it is pretty simplistic.

i don't like to buy watch cuz i think i have enough clock surrounding me already. Phone, computer etc. Recently i've working out by timing instead of counting to i need a stop watch. i also get into camping & hiking as well so i needed a compass. And this watch have both of what i need and more. it has 2 timer, you can measure your pace, alarm, or use it for navigation. and the best of all it all black even the screen. i'm not a watch collector but i love this watch!!!
