Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
By incorporating CamelBak"s Big Bite Valve mouthpiece into the lid of this bottle, now you can easily hydrate without taking your eyes of the road or trail. Just squeeze the sides to increase the flow of liquid and then rotate the upper part of the cap 1/4 turn to stop the flow. You can even track your intake thanks to the clear strip along the side. When you"re done, just close the valve for positively leak-free transport. Constructed with custom-blended, polypropylene to keep you tasting your beverage and not your bottle. Perfect for runners or cross-trainers.

4 out of 5 stars Great water bottle! But leaks!   August 30, 2008

I take this to work with me almost everyday. It's great but can leak if turned over on it's side while in the flow position.

5 out of 5 stars Camelbak OWNS the waterbottle market - NEVER LEAKS, EVER   July 27, 2008
8 out of 8 found this review helpful

I have 4 Camelbak water bottles. They have replaced all my water bottles of the past. I have two 32oz BPA Free water bottles w/ bite valve. I have two of these Performance bottles and will be buying a 3rd (two water bottles, and one for my supplement/energy shake/nutrition for long rides). I am a cyclist. I can't say enough good things about these bottles. br /br /Attributes:br /BITE VALVE - best invention ever. Bite then the water flows...otherwise nadabr /STRAW - (optional) you can either sip water out the bite valve, use pressure to squeeze the flow up from the bottle, or my personal favorite use the straw that is inside the bottle.br / (these are pretty rugged pieces that can be bought seperately as they wear, which after 4 months of daily use still looks brand new)br /SHUT-OFF VALVE - no spills no leaks. PERIOD. Twist the top of the cap to toggle between open and closed.br /br /*When filled to the brim, it can most likely hold 24oz. The last 22oz. marker is a few ounces shy of the brim of the bottle.br /* Also, whatever you put in here always taste exactly like what you put in the bottle. The plastic does not come off. It doesn't taint the fluid you put in there. I've left mine in a car in 105 degree weather for several hours - all I tasted was warm water (not even Hot water - just pretty warm water...almost just how I like it)br /br /I literally have a bottle with me when I go to sleep at night. I leave it on the bed because I get dehydrated and that's how much I trust it. It has not leaked even a drip of water. I attach this to my bike water cages before I place the bike in the trunk and have never seen them spill. I tried my hardest to make these spill or leak - as long as the top is sealed to the bottle properly and the Shut-Off valve closed...you don't need to worry about losing liquid. Also...if you need a stronger stream of water while sipping from the bite valve...just squeeze the bottle. I hardly have to squeeze the bottle to get the pressure I need. The only time I really squeeze the bottle is when I pinch the bite valve and squeeze the bottle to get a consistent, precision stream of water to cool my face/head/upper torso off with a direct blast of water. I also use pack N-Large2 (which when blended with water turns out to be a rather thick substance - it's a powder supplement packed w/ vitamins, protein, glucose, amino acids, etc) and I have enough flow to sip that out of the bottle. On a side note, I stopped using glasses of all sorts - It makes drinking water even better, and arguably "cool"-er (. I drink water...and I take this with me everywhere I go...work, on the road, to the movies, church, the train, restaurants, the bookstore, EVERYWHERE. I never leave home without at least one.br /br /

3 out of 5 stars Not good for a runner in my opinion   June 20, 2008

Ok, so I'm a very beginning runner - been doing the couch to 5k program. I bought this bottle to take with me on run since it's summer and hot. I'd been using a plain dasani bottle that I rinsed out each night. I wanted something that would be durable, go in the dishwasher, carry a smallish amount of water, and go on a run with me. This bottle is no good for my purposes.br /br /First the good. It's sturdy, dish washer safe, and costs $8. br /br /The bad. There's no way to keep the water from leaking out so you can't just fill it in the morning and toss it in the gym bag until it's time to run. The sucking mechanism takes a lot of effort which leaves me out of breathe while running which I believe makes me less efficient. You can't just turn the bottle upside down either, which isn't really to its detriment. It just doesn't work for a runner. I really need something that's a squeeze or perhaps just a sucking mechanism that's a bit more sensitive. br /br /I'll definitely try camelbak again because it's a well constructed product and fairly cheap. I just won't trust what their website says as they recommend this for runners.
