Amazon.com Product Description
The affordable, entry-level Timex T5G941 is great for those just starting out with heart rate monitoring. This digital wristwatch-style monitor continuously tracks your heart rate via a comfortable, elastic chest strap (which fists chest sizes from 25 to 53 inches). The large, easy-to-read display recalls your activity time and average, peak, and minimum heart rate, and it includes 12/24 hour time and month/date display. It also features INDIGLO night light backlighting for use at night, up to 2 years of battery life, perforated rubbers strap, and water resistance to 30 meters (100 feet)--enabling it to withstand splashes and accidental dunks into the water, but not suitable for swimming.

3 out of 5 stars Entry level HRM   August 19, 2008
This is a very basic HRM
Pros
1. Simple to use
2. Works out of the box
3. user changeable batteries
4. INdiglo ---- to check reading in the dark
5. Has a stop watch

Cons
1. Stop watch starts as soon as you turn on HRM
2. You cannot use teh watch as a stop watch w/o the strap around your chest.
3. No split timing.

5 out of 5 stars Accurate and easy to use...   August 16, 2008
The monitor has been working fine! Seems to have good communication between the watch and chest strap. There is an almost inaudible tone that comes from the chest strap that correlates to that heart rate, which confirms that it is picking up the rate without looking at the watch during attachment. I find it comfortable and durable. I even wear the watch most days...

4 out of 5 stars Great heart monitor for the money   August 12, 2008
I've been looking for one of these for a long time, and after reading the reviews, decided to get this one. It was resonably priced and from a trusted known brand (Timex). I did read some of the reviews about how it sometimes took awhile to get the heart beat going and I did noticed that. This seemed to help the more I wet it down. It does have to be wet to work properly, but once I did that it has worked great. For the women out there wanting one of these, don't be afraid that it won't work well with an excersise bra. That was a concern of mine that the bra would impeade it, but so far it has not.

The watch part is nice, smaller then it looks in the picture yet easy to read. It lights up and is not too hard to set.

The belt is comfortable and easy to adjust.

I give it 4 stars only because of the time it takes to "get going". I do recommend this to anyone looking for a heart montior with out wanting to spend $70!!

4 out of 5 stars Very good HRM for the price   August 9, 2008
I bought this Heart Rate Monitor for P90X. After going through the first few workouts, I realized that I didn't really need a HRM for P90X, but that doesn't take away from this one. For the money, it's very good. It's only got basic features, but I put the chest band on and immediately started seeing my heart rate on the watch. It seems to be accurate, and the chest-band becomes comfortable very quickly. You can even jump around and run w/out worrying about it falling off. Overall, very impressive product considering it's about the cheapest HRM out there.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad   August 6, 2008
The timex watch feels cheap and the chest strap is not very comfortable. However this is my first heart rate monitor and it seems to work just fine. The replaceable battery is the reason I chose this watch over the entry level Polar watch. So far I have no reason to suspect that this was a bad purchase. I will update if I have any issues with this product.
