2 out of 5 stars Looks Great!   November 18, 2008
I purchased this dispenser after using it at a friend's house. It does not work as well as I hoped it would. I have the same problem with only a drop or two of soap being dispensed.

2 out of 5 stars not enough soap   November 15, 2008
I bought two different touch-free liquid soap dispensers from Amazon in September 2008, the Simplehuman and the Allton SD1020. I used the Simplehuman for a month and then used the Allton the following month (with regular Softsoap brand liquid hand soap I bought from Costco). It gets used about 10 times a day.

The Allton works better and it cost 25% less.

The Simplehuman does not give enough soap, and it has to be primed before each use. There is a little button on the top which activates the pump and will prime the unit, but that is hardly touch-free. When using it normally (with the touch-free IR sensor), it gives about a pea size amount of soap. I find myself needing to use it 3 times to get enough soap. (It is set at the highest setting)

The Allton has never needed re-priming (after the first time used), and always gives a perfect amount of soap.

3 out of 5 stars Love it and hate it!   October 15, 2008

We have three of these at my office. They all worked great initially. We had one go out because it just didn't sense anything and we tried new batteries and it just died. Then several months later the one in our other restroom just started to dispense soap everywhere and keep running and running like the sensor was broken. The third one is still working one year after installation.

I did buy one for my house after we got them for the office because we loved them (before all the issues) and with this one I had a problem with a seal on the bottom of the unit obviously not in place correctly and the soap would seep out the bottom of the unit all over the counter. I'm still going to give it one more try and am trying to exchange it now, but for the cost of the unit it's kind of expensive to just throw out.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent -Don't let some reviews put you off!   September 20, 2008
I have had on the wall soap dispensers for 6 years and they dispense less soap on one try than this one does on 2nd setting!! Almost didn't try because of the other reviews but needed a counter one and liked the design. I use Jeregens liquid soap and the highest and 2nd highest settings actually dispense too much soap. The only reason I gave it a 4 is the battery compartment. I learned from my others that invariably you have just filled it when the battery dies and because you have the compartment on the bottom you have to empty it to change batteries. Also found the screw a little difficult with my clumsy fingers so that could be designed better. My 6 year old ones of another brand still work and if this lasts as long will be completely pleased.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!   August 20, 2008
This is an amazing creation! I am trying to become "green" and use Method soap, but touching the soap dispenser still made me feel dirty, so I begged and pleaded with my Mom until she bought me one, and I just called her to tell her I'd like TWO more for Christmas! This may cost a pretty penny, but it is SO worth it!
